Beyoncé's New Album a "Poignant Reminder" to Vote: Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama took to Instagram to commend Beyoncé's latest album and used it to convince people to vote in this year's elections. Beyoncé, known for her support of both former President Obama and current President Biden, dropped her new country-themed album "Cowboy Carter" last Friday.

In her Instagram post, the former first lady praised Beyoncé, stating, "With Cowboy Carter, you have once again revolutionized the music scene, reshaping our cultural landscape. I am immensely proud of you!"

Michelle Obama claimed that "Cowboy Carter" was a symbol of resilience and self-expression, stating, "This album serves as a poignant reminder that despite the challenges we face in being heard, seen, and acknowledged, we can still revel in our authenticity without apology. It underscores the notion that each of us possesses inherent power. Our history, our joys, and indeed, our votes wield immense influence, and it is incumbent upon us to utilize our unique talents to advocate for the causes dearest to us."

Obama urged, "Together, we must champion our convictions, especially at the ballot box this year. The pivotal issues that affect our lives profoundly—from gender pay equity and racial equity to reproductive rights and environmental conservation—are on the ballot nationwide. As Queen Bey aptly articulates in 'Ya Ya,' let us 'keep the faith' and exercise our right to 'VOTE!'"

Prior to the album's launch, Beyoncé shared on Instagram, "This album has been a labor of love spanning over five years," recounting an experience where she felt unwelcome and unrecognized. She elaborated, "However, that experience prompted me to delve deeper into the annals of country music, immersing myself in our rich musical heritage. It is heartening to witness how music can bridge divides and amplify the voices of those who have dedicated themselves to preserving our musical legacy."
