Charles Wesley Godwin's "Live From The Church"

What can be said of Charles Wesley Godwin? Well, congrats on the new record deal! Let's take a look at his live EP from February of this year. A 5 track live album featuring mostly revamped live versions of songs previously recorded by Charles and one cover song "Crooked Teeth" by Zach Bryan in 2020.

The lyrics of the opening track, "The Jealous Kind," a vivid picture of a man willing to do whatever it takes to keep his relationship intact. Godwin's slick vocals capture the desperation of a man trying to keep his love from slipping away. The second track, "Lyin' Low," is a poignant song about finding contentment in life's simple pleasures. There is overall a sense of resignation and acceptance, urging listeners to appreciate what they have.

"Jesse", my personal favorite is a haunting ballad about a man grappling with regret and the memory of a lost love. The middle section has a sweet guitar solo to look out for. As always, Godwin's vocals are expressive and tells a story just in his phrasing alone. The chorus is particularly powerful, with its repeated refrain of "Well Jesse don't hear you and neither do I."

"Live From The Church" is a must-listen for fans of Americana and country music. Check it out today and congrats again to Charles on the new record deal!
