Five Times August, the one-man project by Brad Skistimas, has released a powerful new single, "Liars, Cheats, and Crooks." This track delivers a fresh pop/rock sound that resonates deeply in an election year.
Skistimas shared that he wrote "Liars, Cheats, and Crooks" a few years ago but held onto it because it didn't fit the folkier vibe of his earlier releases. However, after connecting with The Defiant and being inspired by their album "If We’re Really Being Honest," he revisited the song. He enlisted Greg Camp from The Defiant and Smash Mouth to produce the track, with Pete Parada from The Defiant and Offspring on drums, and Mark White from The Spin Doctors on bass.
"Liars, Cheats, and Crooks" features biting lyrics that call out the deceit and corruption seen in today's world:
"You want me scared, you want me weak / You want me brain dead and asleep / You want us trapped while you all laugh behind the scenes."
The song captures the frustration and anger felt by many, declaring:
"You’re just liars, cheats, and crooks / You change the rules and you burn the books / And so I don’t believe a single word you say."
Skistimas's decision to bring together musicians who have been outspoken against deception and corruption adds an authentic, rebellious energy to the track. It's clear that "Liars, Cheats, and Crooks" is rallying cry for those tired of dishonesty in power.
The single is now available on all digital music platforms. Be sure to check out the official lyric video and feel the fervor of this timely anthem.
