Not only did fake country artist culture vulture Beyoncé win the Country Album of the Year award at last night's Grammy Awards, but she was introduced by fellow fake country artist Taylor Swift.
Remember when Taylor was a country artist? I barely do. She always had a pop skew to her music, but she's been a full-force pop artist for over a decade now.
It's like the Grammys are taunting us. They know we want real country artists to be recognized and win. But the best they can do is give us literal pop stars instead.
I would have rather Post Malone's F-1 Trillion have won Country Album of the Year. At least he actually did the genre some justice and honored country legends like Dolly Parton and Hank Williams Jr. That was such a fantastic album, but Beyoncé's was just … horrible. It was a pop album wearing the stereotype of a country album as a skin suit.
To top off a sham award ceremony, Beyoncé gave her best fake shocked look as the camera panned to her. Really, Bey? You're shocked about being the most astroturfed pop star in the last 20 years?
She then had the audacity to thank God and her fans for her win.
So many legitimately great country albums came out in 2024, but all they can serve up is some ridiculous radio-friendly version of country for people who aren't even fans of the genre.
