Garth Brooks Slammed For Performing Communist Song at Carter's Funeral

Country star Garth Brooks and Trisha Yeareood have come under fire for his performance of the late John Lennon's "Imagine" at President Jimmy Carter's funeral.

The pair previously performed Lennon's song during Rosalynn Carter's funeral in 2023.

Users across X panned Brooks' performance and noted the lyrics of "Imagine" felt inappropriate to be sung in a church.

"'Imagine,' the song Garth Brooks sang at Carter’s funeral, Is an atheist song. Sung in a high episcopal church, for a Baptist President," one user wrote.

"What a weird song to choose," another user wrote.

Typically, the song is perceived as peaceful. However, the lyrics tell a different story, appearing to in fact be an atheistic, worldly song.

"Imagine there's no heaven / It's easy if you try / No hell below us / Above us only sky," Lennon's song begins before declaring: "Imagine all the people living for today."

The song goes on to take a globalist totalitarian tone as Lennon suggests: "Imagine there's no countries / It isn't hard to do."

"Nothing to kill or die for / And no religion too / Imagine all the people / Living life in peace," the song continues.

Further, the song takes a seemingly communist approach proposing: "Imagine no possessions / I wonder if you can."

"No need for greed or hunger / A brotherhood of man / Imagine all the people / Sharing all the world," Lennon sings.
