Musk, who is autistic, was visibily excited throughout the inauguration. Before speaking at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC, Musk pumped his fists in the air and screamed "Yes!"
"This is what victory feels like!" Musk said, taking the podium and pounding his fists in excitement. "This was no ordinary victory, this was a fork in the road of human civilization."
Musk said "elections come and go," saying some were more important than others.
"This one really mattered, and I just wanna say thank you for making it happen," Musk said before awkwardly grabbing at his chest and throwing his hand into the air. "My heart goes out to you!"
Piers Morgan took a measured approach to his criticism of Musk, saying he was "ill-advised" for his gesture.
"But he obviously didn’t mean it as a Nazi salute and anyone who says he did is being a disingenuous idiot," Morgan wrote.
Musk's awkward hand gesture was similarly panned by leftists online, including Iero, who took to Instagram to slam Musk.
"F*** this guy and every single person supporting this s*** or wasting any kind of breath attempting to defend it," Iero wrote.
"Your true colors are shining through," Iero wrote, adding "#SmashHate."
