It’s happened. A celebrity has finally admitted they’re a narcissist.
During an episode of his “Counsel Culture” podcast earlier this month, Nick Cannon actually admitted he was diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Cannon then doubled down on his admission while serving meals at the Los Angeles Mission’s Thanksgiving celebration on Wednesday.
"I've taken all the power away from the term narcissism 'cause I've researched it and I understand it," Cannon during his podcast. "Call me whatever you want ... now if I didn't know what it was, then I have issue with it.”
Talk about a reality check. It seems like his glaringly large family may actually be connected to some underlying issues that might drive someone to create such a complex life setup. This is the same guy who thought fathering a dozen kids was some sort of monumental life achievement.
I’m actually glad to hear that he’s acknowledging he has a problem and is taking the steps through therapy to deal with it. It's a bold move for a celebrity to admit such a thing, especially in a culture that often glorifies self-absorption over self-awareness. It stands to reason that behind all the glitz and glam, there’s usually a profound lack of introspection.
Now, if only we could get some other celebrities to admit they’re narcissists.
