OPINION: The Coastal Elite Excluded Morgan Wallen From The Grammys Because of Their Woke Agenda

The Grammy snub of Morgan Wallen, first noted in November 2024 has prompted many to questions the industry's motivations and preferences in their selection process.

Lainey Wilson's win in the "Best Country Album" category sparked discontent amongst fans. Wallen's absence from the ceremony and the industry's seemingly selective acknowledgment underscores the widening gap between the music elite and Middle America's preferences.

It's tempting to attribute the omission to Wallen's past racist comments captured on camera three years ago. Classic cancel culture at work. The divide may also be rooted in a similar disconnect between Wallen's fundamental character, ethos and mystique and the prejudices of those on the coasts who make up the majority of the recording academy.

As Wallen forges ahead with new projects, the Grammy snub only intensifies the scrutiny the music industry is receiving. The Twitterverse (Sorry--- X-Verse) reflects the frustration, with one user, @KaySmythe, expressing her sentiments by playfully deeming the Grammys as a cult with specific political preferences. This encapsulates the growing sentiment of disconnection between industry accolades and the pulse of Middle America as reflected in streaming numbers and the Billboard charts.

The fans will always fan and the snobs will always snub. This is the cycle of culture that we are presented with in 2024.

All of this is nothing new. Many have been vocal in their criticism of the Grammys for issues like this.

If anything, for fans of Mr. Wallen, this is just another moment where the record academy shows its allegiance to the woke mob and cancel culture.
