Tim Walz Ridiculed for Mentioning Taylor Swift as Part of Kamala Harris’ Coalition During Debate

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who is Kamala Harris’ running mate, made an eyebrow-raising statement during a recent debate by claiming that Vice President Harris has built a “coalition” that bizarrely includes pop star Taylor Swift. Walz’s remark came off as desperate and seemed to stretch the idea of what counts as political support.

During his closing statement, Walz listed off names like Bernie Sanders, Dick Cheney, and Taylor Swift as part of Harris’ supposed backing, raising doubts about whether the campaign is trying to attract voters with substance or just star power.

This out-of-touch attempt to name-drop Swift, who recently endorsed Harris, hasn’t played well. Her involvement has already led to backlash, and recent polls show her favorability has dropped sharply among voters. Adding to the fallout, Swift’s Spotify numbers have plummeted, with millions of listeners jumping ship.

Instead of winning support, the Harris-Walz campaign’s name-checking appears to be alienating people rather than building the “coalition” Walz so confidently touted.
