Country music star Brantley Gilbert showed off his rebellious side during a recent concert in Alabama, where he expressed his disdain for Bud Light beer in a unique and unconventional way. In the middle of a hard-edged cover of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust," Gilbert threw a can of Bud Light to the ground and shouted, "Yeah, f*** that!" The move was caught on video and quickly went viral on social media, where it garnered cheers from his fans.
The incident comes in the wake of a controversy surrounding the brewing company's partnership with transgender social media personality Dylan Mulvaney. While some conservatives have called for a boycott of the brand, Anheuser-Busch has long presented itself as a LGBTQ+ friendly company.
Gilbert, who does not drink himself, seemed to be taking a stand against the company's recent actions, despite the irony of doing so during a cover of a song led by the late Freddie Mercury, a flamboyant bisexual performer and LGBTQ+ icon.
Gilbert's move was not without support as many on social media made that clear, with Rogan O'Handley giving a play by play breakdown on artists who have spoken up against Bud Light.
While the brewing company may have lost a fan in Brantley Gilbert, it seems the country music star has only gained more support from his dedicated followers.
