She looks like some kind of wannabe Lady GaGa/Madonna crossover. I'm getting older, and she wasn't on my radar, but apparently I've heard her music before because it sounded familiar to me, I just didn't have a face for the name.
Anyway, after winning such a prestigous award at the age of 26, this chick decided to go on the most detatched from reality rant I've heard from an artist in quite a while.
The speech started out normal, thanking everyone who helped her throughout her career, but then it took a hard-left turn--pun intended.
"I told myself if I ever won a Grammy and got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music," she said, clearly not aware that she just said the quiet part out loud. "I would demand that the labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a living wage and healthcare, especially to developing artists."
A living wage?! What does that even mean? I don't think she's Oprah rich, but how does she get as popular as she is now without picking up some sponsorhips and deals? And why do artists need healthcare?
If that wasn't crazy enough, she delivered her speech while dressed as the good witch from The Wizard of Oz.
Do we really think she was advocating for the small-town artists performing at clubs and other small venues? Of course not. She was doing it for leftist brownie points.
I can't wait to not listen to her music in the future.
