Five Times August is NOT Feeling Zuck

Singer and songwriter Brad Skistimas, who performs as Five Times August, is not feeling Mark Zuckerberg's recent stance against censorship.

On Tuesday, Zuck shared a video to his Instagram announcing that, after nearly a decade, Meta would end their "fact checking" censorship regime."

"I’m so sick of these people pivoting blame on anything other than their own decisions and actions," Skistimas wrote in an X post. "Zuckerberg and Facebook assisted in creating a culture of hate towards anybody speaking up on everything he now admits here."

"His thousands of employees were brainwashed and indoctrinated into a practice and belief that the company wasn’t actually censoring or silencing free expression and information, but that they were just doing a good thing, keeping out “bad” information," he continued. "All these actions ultimately split families and friendships apart and ruined lives. You can’t reverse that, Mark."

"Too little too late you POS. You belong in jail," he added.

"We’re going to get back to our roots and focus on reducing mistakes, simplifying our policies and restoring free expression on our platforms," the Meta CEO said in his Tuesday video. "More specifically, we’re going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with Community Notes similar to X, starting in the U.S."

Zuckerberg went on to cite president-elect Donald Trump's massive landslide victory as a "tipping poing" in cultural discourse surrounding censorship.

“Governments and legacy media have pushed to censor more and more,” Zuckerberg revealed of the company's censorship pratices, adding “A lot of this is clearly political.”

“What started as a movement to be more inclusive has increasingly been used to shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas,” Zuck said.

“It’s gone too far," he added.

It remains to be seen how or when these changes will take effect, though for now, the counter-culture has secured another victory.
