Voting for Academy members began on Jan. 8 and was scheduled to end on Sunday, though has been extended until Tuesday, Jan. 14. Similarly, nomination announcements were scheduled for Jan. 17th, though have also been pushed back to Sunday Jan. 19.
The delay was announced in an email to members on Wednesday afternoon by CEO Bill Kramer.
“We want to offer our deepest condolences to those who have been impacted by the devastating fires across Southern California,” Kramer's email read, per Variety. “So many of our members and industry colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles area, and we are thinking of you.”
Other postponements include the International Feature Shortlist Screeening, along with the in-person Los Angeles Sound Branch Bake-Off and Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch Bake-Offs in Los Angeles and New York City, which has been outright cancelled.
The 2025 Critic's Choice Awards (CCA) have also been postponed until Jan. 26.
“The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards ceremony has been postponed from January 12th to January 26th due to the catastrophic fires ravaging Southern California,” said a statement from CCA released Wednesday, per the outlet. “The rescheduled event will remain at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and will broadcast live on E! and around the world. It will also be available on Peacock the next day.”
“This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected," CCA CEO Joey Berlin added.
