After going viral last summer with her unapologetically pro-life anthem “I Was Gonna Be,” Rachel Holt is officially back—and she’s proving she’s no one-hit wonder.
Her latest single, “How Dare Me,” marks a bold new chapter for the rising country star. Trading the political firestorm of her debut for deeply personal heartbreak, Holt leans into vulnerability on a song that’s equal parts tender and tough. It’s a track about falling too fast, saying too much, and owning the regret that follows.
“This song really describes what it feels like when you begin to fall in love with someone, maybe a little too soon,” Holt shared. “It’s a catchy song that also hits you in the heart.”
The emotional ballad was written by 14-time Grammy Award winner Dan Tyminski, known for his work with Alison Krauss and Union Station. For Holt, cutting a Tyminski song is more than just a career milestone—it’s personal. Years ago, Tyminski recorded a song written by Holt’s grandfather. Now, the favor has been returned in a full-circle moment neither family saw coming.
“As soon as I heard it, I knew I had to record it,” Holt said. “I loved the connection.”
“How Dare Me” has already been described as “an unapologetic anthem of self-reflection,” capturing the emotional rollercoaster of love, regret, and hard-won strength. It’s a far cry from the cultural firestarter that launched her into the spotlight—but it’s just as powerful.
In 2024, Holt’s debut single “I Was Gonna Be” stormed the digital charts, hitting No. 9 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales and earning her a spot as No. 21 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart. It was a viral success that put Holt on the map—and now she’s back to show the world she’s here to stay.
A music video for “How Dare Me” is on the way, promising to bring the song’s emotional core to life.
