Several of Lightfoot's albums achieved gold and multi-platinum status internationally, and his music influenced generations of artists who followed in his footsteps. One of Lightfoot's most famous collaborations was with legendary American producer Lenny Waronker, who produced some of his biggest hits, including "If You Could Read My Mind" and "Sundown." In addition, Lightfoot recorded a duet with Anne Murray called "Cotton Jenny," which became a hit in both Canada and the United States.
