The Republican National Convention (RNC) last week reached a high point with Kid Rock’s rousing performance and the notable presence of Jason Aldean, both staunch supporters of former President Donald Trump.
Kid Rock, known for his genre-blending music and unabashed patriotism, performed a revamped version of his 2000 hit "American Bad A--" at the RNC. The crowd roared as he began by asking attendees to stand and raise a fist, leading them in chants of "Fight, fight!" and "Trump, Trump!" One notable lyric change was towards the end of the song, where he altered "Smell the aroma, check my hits / I know it stinks in here ‘cause I’m the s---" to "I know it stinks in here ‘cause Trump's the s---," self-censoring the final word. The chorus, typically featuring a chant of "Hey, hey!" was instead filled with shouts of "Trump!" and "fight!" at Kid Rock's urging.
Kid Rock’s performance wasn’t just musical; it was deeply political. His enthusiastic support extended beyond the stage, as he donated $50,000 to a fundraiser supporting those wounded in the July 13 shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The fundraiser, authorized by Trump, has raised over $6 million, far surpassing its original goal of $1 million.
Country music star Jason Aldean, known for his hit "Try That in a Small Town," also made a notable appearance at the RNC. Aldean was spotted in the former president’s box, accompanied by his wife, Brittany Aldean.
As the RNC concluded, the powerful combination of music and politics left an indelible mark, with Kid Rock’s performance and Jason Aldean’s support underscoring a melding of entertainment and political allegiance, epitomizing the spirit of the convention and its focus on the future.
