During a Tuesday broadcast of the program, the comedian said he was one of many who evacuated their Los Angeles home during the devastating fires that have rocked the state in the past week. Burr said his home had survived the fire, adding he "got lucky."
"I think everybody did a great job. Unlike the internet,” he said, hinting at criticism of local government response to the fires, before mocking "fire experts" who claimed the disaster was "mismanaged."
“Mismanaged? Like some idiot on the internet knows how to manage the worst fire in LA? Sitting there in his underwear?” he continued. “I love how all the chatter out there is about bans on illegal immigrants and homeless people lighting fires.”
“They light fires every day,” he added. “They’re living outside, it’s f***ing cold.”
Burr then took aim at insurance companies saying they would keep everybody’s premiums and still give themselves a bonus."
“Yes! Free Luigi!” Burr said of Luigi Mangione, who has been charged with assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December. “I love how they acted surprised, ‘How could that happen?’”
“[The killer] wrote on the bullets why it happened,” Burr added.
Burr previously commented on Mangione, saying “The funny thing when that CEO got whacked was watching CEOs have to be uncomfortable,” per Variety.
